Vegan Smoked Carrot Dogs



  • 4 thick carrots
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • kosher salt and pepper to tasteĀ 


  1. Preheat your Traeger grill (or oven) to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the carrots. For real hot dog resemblance, when peeling, round the edges.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the avocado oil, liquid smoke, garlic powder and salt and pepper. Place the carrots on parchment lined baking sheet and pour the liquid mixture over the carrots.
  4. Roll the carrots around in the mixture, using your fingertips to massage the oil and seasoning into the carrots.
  5. Roast for 35 minutes or until fork tender. Every five or so minutes, brush the carrots with the remaining marinade mixture. I like mine charred a bit so feel free to roast longer.
  6. Once your carrot dog is done, place it into a hot dog bun and top it with your favorite hot dog toppings. Enjoy!
